 Don Carl

             Don Carl™

Don Carl™, the artist, has entertained audiences from Connecticut to Florida for many years. Don's start goes back to the mid fifties, singing with various bands, doing sock hops, bandstand shows, singing the songs of the day, not really finding his niche.

One day while listening to the radio in his car hearing a singer Ralph Miranda whom Don knew had a single out, called (The Flame). When he heard the record he had to go and congratulate his friend Ralph. They talked and Ralph asked Don if he wanted to go to the studio where he recorded it. Arriving at the studio, Ron Cris Records, they met with owners' Dominic and Peggy Rondina. That day altered Don's life forever. Soon, Don had become a fixture at the studio, learning about the recording business. Peggy would help polish Don's singing style ( The Beginning of The Style of Frank Sinatra and Love Songs ). When not rehearsing his music, he was watching Dominic who was the engineer. Don would spend all his free time at the studio.

At the studio, Don met a piano player Tom Jermine who was the arranger, and composer on most of the records coming out of the studio. This was the beginning of life long friendships for Don. Don's easy going Frank Sinatra style was not easy for him, people would say nobody wants another Frank Sinatra. In fact Don did not imitate Frank Sinatra, this is the way he sang. Well it wasn't long before Don and Tom were playing all over the state in a band called The Sands Quintet featuring Donnie Carl. Like all good things, everything must come to an end, so did the band. Going their separate ways musically that is, as for Don and Tom. Tom was Don's best man at his wedding and Don was in Tom's wedding also. A lot has happened over the years, too much to mention.

Don found himself in sunny Florida, semi retired. While golfing, barbecuing were getting old, he wanted to get back into the music business, doing what he does best, sing.

While looking for musicians, and by the way not having much luck, a dear friend Herb Sadler (played lead guitar for Ike and Tina Turner for many years) said why don’t you try using midi files. Don started looking around and found some of the best music files around. While Don is most comfortable with a live band, it wasn’t long after rehearsing the new music files that Don felt confident enough to go out and try the new show, needless to say it was a success. As Don puts it, the music files never have a headache, hangover or a bad attitude. The music files are so close to the original music if you close your eyes you would think Count Basie and his band were playing.

This is a little background about the man called Don Carl.
